Privacy policy / The practical details
Your home. Your information.
A plain-English privacy policy for Spoonful, a small independent project by Gabby Welson. Here is what using it means for your information.
Last updated September 19, 2026
The important part, up front
Spoonful is a shared household space. Your household’s members can see its tasks, notes, activity history, and daily capacity check-ins, including optional spoon budgets. A check-in is optional. You do not need to share a diagnosis, medical history, or a reason for your capacity to use Spoonful.
Only enter information you are comfortable sharing with your household. Spoonful is not a private health journal or a medical record system.
What is collected
- Account and household information. Clerk handles sign-in and household membership, including the account details you provide during registration. Spoonful stores your account identifier, display name, household, role, and household time zone.
- Things you add to your household. Task titles and notes, importance, effort, assignments, dates, task changes and their authors, and capacity check-ins are stored so your household can use them together.
- Technical information. Hosting and authentication providers process connection and request information, such as IP addresses, browser information, session identifiers, and security or error logs, to deliver and protect the service.
Why it is used, and who can access it
Information is used to sign you in, check household membership, save and share household work, produce suggested plans and contribution summaries, and keep the service running. Your household’s members can access its shared information. The project’s operator and service providers may also access information as needed to operate, troubleshoot, and secure the service, or comply with legal obligations.
Suggested plans currently use rules within Spoonful. The app does not currently send your household information to Jev or another AI ranking service.
These providers help run the hosted app:
- Clerk handles accounts, authentication, sessions, and household membership.
- Vercel hosts the website and processes requests to the app, and Vercel Web Analytics provides website usage statistics.
- PlanetScale stores the hosted household database.
- Sentry helps diagnose application errors and performance problems when monitoring is enabled.
Their linked privacy information describes their own practices; processing they perform for Spoonful also depends on their service agreements. Hosting and database services are based in the United States, and providers may process information in other locations.
The demo stays in your browser
The sample household works without an account. Its task and check-in changes are saved in this browser’s local storage, not in Spoonful’s household database. They do not sync across devices. Use the demo’s reset control or clear this site’s browser storage to remove them.
Please use pretend information in the demo. Opening the demo still loads a hosted website, so normal hosting requests can process technical information and the page visit can appear in website analytics. Error monitoring can also record technical operation outcomes in the demo, without its task text or check-in values. Clerk loads when you visit the account pages, not when you explore the public pages or demo.
Cookies and browser storage
Clerk uses cookies and related browser storage for sign-in and session security. The demo uses local storage to remember the sample household. Blocking or clearing this storage may sign you out or reset your demo. Spoonful does not include advertising pixels.
Website analytics
Spoonful uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages people visit and improve the website. It collects page views, referrer information, approximate location, and browser, operating system, and device information. Vercel provides aggregate statistics without analytics cookies, using a temporary visitor identifier that resets after 24 hours. See Vercel’s analytics privacy information.
Spoonful removes query strings and fragments from page URLs before sending analytics and groups sign-in and sign-up steps under their main page addresses. The app does not send task text, capacity check-ins, account identifiers, or custom interaction events to Web Analytics.
Error and performance monitoring
When enabled, Sentry receives error reports, sampled performance traces and CPU profiles, and technical operation logs and metrics so the maker can diagnose problems. These can include the type of operation, whether it succeeded, a safe error category, software version, and timing. For example, monitoring can record that a task-completion request failed, without its task title or the person who made it.
Spoonful filters these reports to exclude task titles and notes, capacity values, household and account identifiers, form contents, credentials, and raw request data. It does not enable session replay or recordings of the screen. CPU profiles describe which parts of the app's code used processing time; they do not record household content. Sentry can still process connection information needed to receive reports, including the sending IP address. Monitoring is used to operate the app, not to score or compare household members.
Keeping, changing, and removing information
You can update your account through the account controls and edit current tasks in your household. Changes to tasks are recorded in shared history. Leaving a household or deleting a sign-in account does not automatically erase household records or earlier activity.
Household information currently has no automatic expiry, and Spoonful does not yet have self-service household export or deletion. Provider logs and backups have separate retention. A fixed deletion timetable is not currently available. These limitations do not remove any privacy rights you have under applicable law.
For privacy questions or a request to access, correct, export, or delete your information, email spoonful@welson.net. Requests go directly to the maker. Your identity and the information involved may need to be verified before a request can be addressed. Please do not include passwords or health details in your message.
A small project, with clear boundaries
This early version is intended for adults. Please do not create accounts for children or add another person’s sensitive information without their permission. Share only what your household needs; no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Spoonful is made by Gabby Welson. This policy will be updated as the app’s practices change, with the revision date shown above. See the terms of service for the basic rules of using the app.
